What is Sisal?

Sisal is a tropical plant belonging to the daffodil family. It is grown on large plantations in Indonesia and East Africa although it originates in Central America. The sisal plant has long leaves up to 2 metres long forming a huge rosette. After 3 years of growth the leaves are cut and tied into bundles, then crushed. The fibres are removed by machine. They are then washed, dried in the sun and packed in bales for export. Sisal is used mainly for making rope and twine along with related fibre products such as bath accessories.

Natural Sisal is the ideal way of removing dry skin and impurities to leave the skin feeling softer and smoother. Regular massage with sisal will freshen and tone the skin.
